A new poll by United Soccer Coaches ranked the University New Hampshire men's soccer team sixth in the nation.

“We're ranked 6th in the nation in the United Coaches poll!” UNH Men's Soccer tweeted Oct. 26.

Georgetown University's team ranked first in the poll, followed by Marshall University, Oregon State, the University of Washington and the University of Kentucky.

The University of New Hampshire's record is 13-0-2, with 468 total points scored.

A total of 25 teams made the list of ranked college teams. United Soccer Coaches is the world’s largest soccer coaches’ organization, according to its website. "United Soccer Coaches works every day to inspire coaches and ignite their passion for the game so they pass it on to players and others in the soccer community." The organizations offers clinics, courses and other educational program for coaches nationally.

The rankings are intended to generate interest in college soccer and to recognize outstanding teams. They are released weekly and include 25 teams each time.

Other teams are mentioned as having received votes from coaches, even though they did not make the top 25 list.

Factors used in the rankings are the overall strength of a team's schedule, head-to-head scores and wins on the road against other ranked teams.
